willipaul.com - sustainable business strategies, based in Berkeley, CA, is a proactive business development partner and innovator for both clients and the community - integrating full life cycle impact analysis, green values and appropriate technologies through program development processes, mentoring and civic participation. Willi was the principle program design consultant and now serves as Vice President - Business Development for TheGreenChamber.org. He has clients in the SF - Bay and Los Angeles Areas including The 2009 San Francisco Green Grand Prix & Renewable Energy Exposition and The Sustainable Living Roadshow, SF. He is a Member of the Mentoring Program for the 2007 California Clean Tech Open and a volunteer Business Advisor for Pacific Community Ventures, SF.
Willi just kicked off his Certified Green Program (CGP) for Bay Area Businesses and Non-Profits and launched a partnership with Connie Hampton of Hampton & Associates of Oakland to connect senior level job candidates and hiring firms in the green / sustainability sector. Willi serves on the Advisory Boards of the Urban Alliance for Sustainability, SF and GreenRock.org, Bermuda.
Willi has contributed to a variety of planning publications, including the CAPIO Newsletter and InfoText, the National APA Technology Magazine (please see his publication record). He developed marketing and online community building strategies for over thirty Internet start-ups, including Caucus.com (Arlington, VA), Devx.com (Mt. View, CA), and GrowingPlanet.org (Burlingame, CA).
He has served as a project leader for many small town charrettes (planning workshops) since 1997 and his multi-level stakeholder collaborative was awarded the Governor's Environmental Award for the Harrison Neighborhood Association Brownfield Cleanup Plan in Minneapolis.
As a Ph.D. student in the Environment Design and Planning Ph.D. program at Virginia Tech, he designed and managed two innovative urban planning projects: The Jackson Ward Electronic Community Project and The Wise Community Technology Project. He earned his M.A. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Minnesota-Mankato where he invented the electronic charrette [tm] in 1996-97 to promote collaboration in online community building and urban design.
